Khartoum, June 24, 2026 (SUNA) - The Emergency Operations Center held a meeting at the office of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, at the ministry's headquarters on Nile Street in Khartoum.
The meeting reviewed the country's health situation and interventions.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, directed continued efforts to mitigate the expected health Jeopardies associated with the autumn season, and to develop a well-thought-out plan that identifies needs and coordinates with partners in international, UN, and national organizations.
Dr. Haitham Ibrahim stated that the coordination between the ministry and the rapid response of organizations is a source of pride, and its results have been evident in combating the cholera epidemic.
Furthermore, the cholera epidemiological situation report revealed that the cumulative number of cases since the beginning of its recording in Khartoum State has reached 22,277, including 407 deaths.
The Environmental Health and Food Control report noted that 536 water sources within the network were read, out of a target of 682 sources, representing 79% of the states of Sennar, Al-Gadarif, River Nile, Kassala, and Khartoum. Of these, 256 were compliant and 191 were non-compliant. 7,436 tons of waste were transported and treated in several states, representing 84% of the target of 8,863 tons.
The Health Promotion Report highlighted a range of activities implemented during the week, including messages through various media outlets and social media, community dialogues, home visits, and cholera awareness in several states.
The Supply Report confirmed the disparity in the availability of medicines and epidemic supplies in the National Medical Supplies Fund's warehouses, as well as cholera solutions, noting that some organizations have supplied several states. The National Public Health Laboratory (STAC) submitted a report detailing the samples tested at the laboratory and state laboratories over the course of a week, as well as the status of laboratory diagnostic supplies.
The quarantine report announced the arrival of 20,189 people to the country last week, while 6,916 people left, and 717 people visited emergency clinics at the entrances.
The autumn report noted the damages of the fall of 2024 and developed a 2025 plan at a cost of 20 billion pounds.
The World Health Organization report outlined the activities supported by several states.
